My name is Dawn and I have been blessed with Laura Rasmussen's friendship for the last ten years.  This family has endured a great deal of challenges over the last 15 months. I hope you will stand with us and support this amazing family during the most incredibly difficult time of their lives. 

Laura married the love of her life, Michael, at age18 and they have six incredible children ages 7-18. She loves warm beaches, date nights with her husband, and is always up for an adventure. Laura may be the sweetest, most gentle woman you will ever meet. She is full of hope and faith, always planning for her future, an aspect we all admire in her. 

Laura is by all definitions, a warrior in her own right. In March of 2017, Laura was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She underwent surgeries, radiation treatment, chemotherapy, and within the year had defied the odds and beat this rare form of cancer. They thought this battle was over. 

After 4 years of living her best life, in early 2022 she had a stroke at the store. Michael and Laura knew something was terribly wrong. Her annual scans revealed 2 new tumors. Though much smaller than the original apple sized tumor in 2017, there was still a battle to fight because of the tumor locations and the more aggressive growth rates. 

This last year, Laura has undergone surgeries, several types of chemotherapy and faced a variety of challenges related to her treatment and recovery. This includes having a stroke, seizures, and losing a great deal of her movement in the left side of her body. Through this all, she has been more positive than anyone I've ever seen, never complaining and always giving her optimistic smile. 

Laura’s faith in Jesus Christ and testimony of eternal families is solid.  It has kept her motivated and fighting through the years. She wants more than anything to fight for every single day, to spend it with her dear children and husband. We have all fasted and prayed that Laura would be granted a miracle.  We are putting our faith in God's will, still hoping she can defy these odds once again.

The most recent scans show that the cancer is still spreading aggressively, and the treatments do not seem to be working as anticipated. This is difficult news to handle without the added burden of finances.

I’m sure you can imagine the tsunami of medical bills the Rassmussens are trying to cover. Laura has seen more doctors and specialists than one can imagine.  The Rasmussens live in a small town in southern Oregon, and often have to travel 4+ hours to see specialists and get scans and tests done. Traveling expenses in addition to the endless medical bills are becoming a financial concern.  

Michael is the hardest worker you will ever meet and he takes amazing care of Laura.  He never dreamed that they would need life insurance for her and a plan was never purchased.  Hindsight is 20/20 and if he could change it, he would in a heartbeat.  The Rasmussen family needs our financial support.   It is with great humility that Michael and Laura are allowing us to raise funds to help support her medical bills and other expenses that come from managing a large household after she passes.
